86. Willis Parkison4 Popenoe III (Edwin Alonzo3, Willis Parkison2, James1) was born Topeka, Shawnee Co, KS 5 September 1897. Willis died 25 July 1981 at 83 years of age.

He married Kathryn Naomi Malloy 22 December 1941 in Albuquerque, NM. Kathryn was born 17 February 1902. Kathryn died 24 July 1962 at 60 years of age. Willis grew up on his father's farm. He received a BS from the George Washington University and an MS and PhD (1936) from California Institute of Technology. He was Curator of Invertebrate Paleontology and lecturer at Cal Tech from 1930 to 1945, and then Professor of Geology at UCLA from 1945 until his retirement in 1965. He was consulting geologist for various industries and for the US Geological Survey, a fellow of the Paleontolgy Society of America, the Society of Systematic Zoology, and a member of the Geological Society of America. His research and publications contributed much to the increased knowledge of fossil invertebrates found in Upper Cretaceous rocks of California.
