132. Paul⁵ Popenoe (Paul Bowman⁴, Frederick Oliver³, Willis Parkison², James¹) was born Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co, CA  1922.

He married Norma Anne Jaekel 11 Feb 1956 Lodi, San Juaquin Co, CA. Norma was born 19 Dec 1919. Norma was the daughter of Bruno F. Jaekel and Nellie Gray Hobson. Norma died 15 Sep 1979 San Francisco, SF Co, CA, at 59 years of age.

During World War II, Paul served with the Signal Corps in the South Pacific. He then attended the University of California at Berkeley and graduated in 1948 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. For most of his career he worked for the California Public Utilities Commission in San Francisco. His work related to communications and he was responsible for the program which instituted telecommunication devices for the deaf. In his later years he was Deputy Director of the Public Staff. At age 65 he visited his son Darwin in Tanzania and together they climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, elevation 19,000 feet. Now retired, he lives in Lafayette, CA with his partner Hella Fluss, grows fruit trees and is an officer in the Berkeley Hiking Club.

Paul Popenoe and Norma Anne Jaekel had the following children:
