14. Perry Davis3 Popenoe (Peter2, James1) was born Xenia, Greene Co, OH 5 Sep 1837. Perry died 22 May 1920 Lawrence, Douglas Co, KS, at 82 years of age.
He married Catherine Lydia Oliver 7 Nov 1858 in Ohio. Catherine was born 22 Dec 1837. Catherine was the daughter of Alexander Oliver and Susan Wunderlich. Catherine died 6 Feb 1903 at 65 years of age. During the Civil War Perry served as a corporal in Company B of the Battalion Volunteer Militia of Ohio from 1863-1866. In 1869 he was appointed a railway postal clerk and he continued that occupation for nearly 50 years until retirement. During that time he travelled 3.5 million miles, was in 40 train wrecks and escaped from 6 burning cars. He handled 95.5 million letters, or 185,000 monthly. In 1878 he moved to Topeka, KS, and after four years there, moved to Lawrence, KS where he spent the rest of his life.

Oliver4 Popenoe was born 20 Feb 1861. He married Emily Wilder 1 Jan 1887. Harry was a railway mail clerk, like
his father.

50 iii. Lillian
Popenoe was born 1 Jul 1863. Lillian died 27 Jul 1936 at 73 years of age. She
married Clarence Seymour Hall 17 Jun 1896 Lawrence, Douglas Co, KS. Lillian was the
Popenoe genealogist of her time and much of the data in this report is from material she
collected from relatives and some primary sources. Having no children, she passed on her
material and enthusiasm to Paul Bowman Popenoe.
51 iv. Perry
Etta Popenoe was born 16 Oct 1867. Perry died 9 Sep 1886 at 18 years of age.
52 v. Benjamin
Towler Popenoe was born 16 Sep 1875. Benjamin died 24 Nov 1904 at 29 years of age. He married Mabel Amy Fisher 4 Apr 1903 Lawrence, Douglas Co, KS.
